The painting is by the acclaimed British artist James Aumonier (1832 – 1911). Born in Camberwell, London, the son on a jeweller, Aumonier initially studied at the Birkbeck Institute and subsequently in South Kensington gaining employment as a designer. He became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1876 and was one of the original members of the Institute of Oil Painters. Aumonier worked mainly in oils but also in watercolours and concentrated on peaceful English countryside scenes, often in a late afternoon or autumnal tint, of which this painting is a fine example. James Aumonier exhibited first at the Royal Academy in 1871, where after he continued to exhibit regularly at the Royal Academy throughout his career, besides the Paris Salon, winning gold and bronze awards, He also exhibited in Brussels, an exhibition of his paintings and drawings in watercolours was held at the Leicester Galleries in 1908. Many examples of the work of James Aumonier can be seen on artprice, com, askart.com, arcadia.com, findartinfo.com, mutualart.com besides the auction sites of bonhams.com and christies.com Presented in very good to excellent condition in its original frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed Click images to enlarge Terms of Sale The gallery at ColstarTV offers fine art, decorative art and prints, vintage photography, entertainment memorabilia and militaria.
