WW2 Late War Japanese IJA Last Ditch Arisaka Type 30 Bayonet & Wooden Scabbard

Description: This WW2 Late War Japanese IJA Last Ditch Arisaka Type 30 Bayonet & Wooden Scabbard is in good condition overall but does show expected signs of age, service and storage. The blade is marked on the ricasso and production was carried out by Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under the supervision the Nagoya arsenal. The blade is unfullered and retains a strong amount of original finish however it does appear to have been sharpened at some point in the past. There are mild traces of an old varnish finish that can be observed however most of it has worn away. The wooden grips are secure and appear to be in good condition, no cracks or other damage can be found. The rectangular pommel is marked with a serial number as well as what appears to be a Series number and a third unidentified stamp. The press stud is free and appears to function as intended. The wooden scabbard is in good condition overall but also displays signs of age and wear from use. The body of the scabbard has several fine cracks that can be observed on the sides and on the flat face as well, none appear to compromise the integrity of the scabbard and it is still strong and able to be handled. The wire-wrappings are tight, clean and secure. There appears to be a light coat of green paint present, though much of it has worn off. The ferrule and throat are securely attached and each still retain much of their original black finish. Of note, the blade does not fit completely into the scabbard. It is unclear if this is a result of poor production standards or if there is an internal obstruction near the ferrule. This Late War Type 30 bayonet would make a welcome addition to any advanced Imperial Japanese collection. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of contents and condition.
