Description: Original WWII Japanese gas mask rubber accessory bag that was captured in the Pacific. According to the book “HEITAI”, the bag “contained the chloramine-T powder and cotton swabs to spread it on the skin or the soldier's weapons.” Additionally, since these bags were rubber, Japanese troops would commonly store documents inside them to keep dry. U.S. troops quickly realized this and would “liberate” them from the Japanese KIA. Eugene Sledge used this same style bag to keep his pocket diary in. Rubber is somewhat still soft but it has deteriorated a little (shown in pictures). Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
