Description: WILLIS & GEIGER Horsehide Leather Type A-2 USAF bomber jacket Sz Men’s Small 🌎✅. Willis & Geiger Outfitters was an expeditionary outfitting company in the United States. The company outfitted Roald Amundsen, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Jacqueline Cochran, Sir Edmund Hillary, the Flying Tigers, and other legends of the 20th century. The company picked up a US defense contract for air force pilot jackets in 1931. In 1936, Ernest Hemingway designed his own bush jacket made by Willis & Geiger Outfitters. A version of the US military flight jacket was made under contract during World War II, which incidentally was designed by Eddie Bauer. Easily one of the most iconic flight jackets ever worn, the Type A-2 flying jacket has become as legendary as the U.S. Army Air Force Pilots and aircrew who wore them during World War II. The A-2’s origins go back many years before the war even began when it was introduced in 1931 as the replacement to the A-1 flight jacket previously worn by aviators during the 1920s. The A-2 was produced in large quantities through 1943 and would become prized possessions for pilots and aircrew who wore them even after the war was long over. This military-issue type jacket was designed and approved by the U.S. Air Force and made in the United States. The jacket shell is made of premium hand-stitched Horsehide. The jacket features dual knit cuffs and waist band along with a nylon interior lining. In addition, the jacket has a U.S. Air Force-regulation snap down leather lined collar, shoulder epaulets, two snap down pockets, a full-length brass zippered opening with integrated wind flap, a metal hook under the collar to fasten the top of the opening, and dark colored brass grommets under each armpit for ventilation.
