Weber "The Caribbean" 1967-68 Avocado Green Charcoal Kettle BBQ

Description: Up for sale is a late 60s Weber kettle charcoal grill in Avocado Green. It has the pronounced dark band on the the lid which indicates it one of “The Caribbean” models they offered at that time. The grille was is really poor shape when found but I was able to salvage most of the original parts but it’s “restoration” The original steel wheels/caps/tries are included but they will need some repairs due to rust rot. To remedy the lack of wheels, I installed a pair of OEM Webers to keep it scooting around the patio. Everything with an enamel coating cleaned, scrubbed and pressure washed inside & out before the entire thing was polished. The outside has its share of chips, cracks and damage but it’s still decent looking. The underside has some really wild cracks which I’ve seen in other Webers. What’s strange is that the inside is flawless so I think it a defect in the coating application that gave out during use. The wooden lid handle was looking tired but I wanted to keep it original as possible so it was given a coating of fresh Tung oil. The aluminum legs were covered in corrosion/pitting so they were scuffed down to bare metal and polished. All 3 of the leg thumb screws were seized but those too were eventually salvaged and reinstalled. The coal grate is pretty beat up but it still works just fine. The cooking grate has some rust but the outer few inches still has a very nice finish that was protected by dried up soot/grease. All of the vents are intact and move pretty smoothly Overall it’s a really neat looking grille that would be a perfect fit for you mid century home. It has some scars but it’s still got plenty of life in it and needs a good home. You won’t really find something similar looking and Weber was the king of patio/outdoor cooking in the 60s.
