Description: Set of 5 Vladimir Lenin Lapel Pins Soviet Union • Russian History • Souvenir Pins • Propaganda Pins All of these are small, about 1/2" in diameter. The rectangular one is the largest at 1" x 1/2". I do not know when these were manufactured or how they were marketed for sale, just that they were purchased in the early 1990s probably from a street vendor of some type. ********************* *Back story on these:* My father, a Vietnam War veteran and retired US Navy officer, did business for a short time in Russia in the early 1990s, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. During his time there, he would frequently purchase souvenirs from vendors and bring them back as points of interest and discussion for our family. On a personal note, I'll treasure the matryoshka, enamel pieces and amber that he brought back as gifts. But, he was kind of fascinated by these Lenin pins for some reason, and collected a bunch of them. I'm hoping to pass them on to someone who is similarly interested in this aspect of the history of the Soviet Union - a collector, historian, etc. It's with that spirit that I put these little artifacts out into the world - it's not in any way an endorsement of Vladimir Lenin and/or communist philosophy. Just wanted to say that!
