Description: Travel back in time with this Japanese violin. The inside label reads "Made in Nippon." Japan stopped using Nippon on violin exported to America in about 1920. So, it's from sometime before then. With a 14'' body and a 23-1/2'' scale length, it is a 4/4, full-size violin. Two-piece flame maple back. Flame-maple sides. Spruce top. Maple neck. New tailpiece with four fine tuners. Cosmetically, it looks good. There are a few minor nicks and scrapes, particularly where the sides meet the back. Functionally, it plays. The pegs and peg holes are in good condition. The fingerboard is in good working condition. It comes with a fully-haired bow. It comes with rosin. It comes in a modern black molded plastic case. The previous owner put two stickers on the outside of the case. The handle, latches, and hinges all work. This came from a 92-year-old man, who was a lifelong fiddler. He had four other violins, but this was his favorite player. Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 32"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box.
