Description: This is an unusual silver and enamel sterling silver and enamel thimble celebrating the Queen Mother’s 85th birthday in 1985. On a cream background there is a coat of arms and a very attractive flower design with the words “The Queen Mother’s 85th birthday 4th August 1985.” The enamel is undamaged and the top has an attractive beehive pattern. The thimble is clearly marked inside the top with JS & S for James Swann and Son, the anchor for the assay office Birmingham, the lion passant that denotes sterling silver and 925 for sterling silver. There is also a letter M for the year 1985. The thimble has no dents or holes and the rim is round and it has not been over cleaned. This would make a special addition to a collection or a lovely gift. There are are bone china thimbles in this design, but sterling silver ones are rare.
