Description: Item Description: ROY ROGERS (Blue Band) METAL LUNCHBOX AND METAL/GLASS THERMOS from American Thermos 1955. This early and extremely rare R-7 lunchkit features Roy up on Trigger surrounded by cattle and eight scenes of Roy and Dale on the back panel. These Roy Rogers kits began the competition between Aladdin and Thermos for lunch box supremacy – and therefore represent an important piece for the collector. Beautifully designed by Ed Wexler – staff illustrator for American Can Company – designing most of American Thermos’s kits from 1953-1964. Wexler cleverly buried his name in the prairie grass to the right of the steer in the foreground on front panel. The thermos lithos wrap some of the scenes found on the front box panel. This box came in a red band and a blue. This is the latter. Nicely done Ed! Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including original wire thermos holder). Lithographed box panels on front and back are clean and glossy throughout - with just minor rubbings. Very light rim wear on front - just a bit heavier on back - with no corner dents or dimples. Inside of box is also very clean with no prior owner markings – in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos lithos are clean throughout with no dents or dimples, a light rattle when shaken with nice shiny bottom – in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition.
