Description: Vintage RAF Officer's Rank Slides. Wing Commander. No. 2 Dress. (Dark Blue Border). Original. These rank slides are old and have been in storage for some time. They are genuine originals and were donated during the 1980s for a school display about WWII, although they are probably not as old as that. The donation came from the daughter of a Group Captain, whose father had moved up a rank and no longer needed the old slides. The rank slides have dark blue borders so they would have been worn as part of the No. 2 Dress uniform, probably on an RAF issue V-necked jersey. The rank braid was embroidered in a loop and then stitched onto the dark blue backing. They can be easily slipped on and off and would make a great little gift for an RAF enthusiast. Size: 6.7cm x 5.7cm. The rank slides are in very good condition but they do need a special clean due to their age. They have been in storage for some time and are a bit musty, with a few marks on the light blue of the braiding (see photos).
