Description: Vintage Long Arm SPECTACLES EYEGLASSES, Wire Rim Frames, Original Case Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE EYEGLASSES Wonderful pair of vintage spectacles in original case - glasses measure about 4-1/4" from side to side, arms are 4-1/2" long with an additional 2" curve for fitting completely around the ear - lens are an unusual shape and design - the magnifier part on the lower glass is raised with a ground edge - these were designed as bi-focals. The glass lens are mounted into dainty frames - nose rest is partially marked 12 KGF the rest is illegible. Arms are surprisingly sturdy for being so delicate and glass lens have a yellow cast in certain light. Clamshell style case is purple velvet lined and bears a brass label marked BRUNINGS-GALLAGHER OPTICIANS, SAN FRANCISCO - I'm assuming they were in operation around the 1930s or 1940s based on the design. Condition is nice with fine usage marks on the lens but no major scratches, chips, etc. - the arms are flexible and slightly pliable so I think eyeglasses can be worn for a variety of face sizes. The brass label has a bit of greening around the raised letters - does not detract. These have a great look - fun addition to any antique eyeglasses collection or display!
