Description: For your consideration is an extremely rare book, "Entertainments for all Seasons", no author, but published by the S.H. Moore company in 1904. I cannot find a single other example still existing, either for sale or previously ever for sale. Scarce to say the least. It's a great, fun look into the past regarding etiquette of hosting holiday parties. It includes recipes, tips on decorating your house, invitations, and even a "parlor play". More surprisingly it includes a very early look at Halloween, or as the book puts it "Hallowe'en". It's only 7 pages and is the least-covered holiday in the book, but still. In these early days it was still largely relegated to the Scottish and Irish immigrant towns, and an English-speaking person who would invest in books about etiquette for hosting would likely not have an interest in hosting a Hallowe'en gathering. Though this was the beginning of it spreading outside of those immigrant communities. 7.5" x 5", 224 pages, it also covers other types of parties, games, etc. Condition is worn but overall good for being roughly 120 years old, with edgewear on the covers and spines. Pages are relatively bright with minor tanning, the binding is in overall solid, readable condition. I had a lot of fun flipping through this one and getting a glimpse into middle/upper class society at the turn of the 20th century. EXTREMELY rare book in any edition or condition.
