Description: For sale is a vintage 1950’s cast sculpture of Michelangelo’s Moses by Italian artist, Gino Ruggeri (1883-1955). Ruggeri was one of the most well known sculptors in Italy. He worked for Tito Bianchi in Tuscany. Ruggeri developed a means of mixing alabaster with resin to make it more durable and water proof. This is a cast piece, of his original sculpture, made from the alabaster/resin composite. It is 6” tall and it sits on a 2.5” square marble base. This piece was made in Italy. It is stamped G.Ruggeri and It has the original sticker. In 1987 Bianchi sold his factory to A. Santini, and the Santini family now control the rights to Ruggeri’s work. There is a small chip on the bottom of the marble base as shown in the pictures. Other than that, this piece is in beautiful condition.
