Description: Vintage Children's Science Text, 'Heat and Health' 1935 by M. Meister. Condition is used. It was once owned by the Board of Ed of NYC and is so stamped inside. The fabric of the back cover is rippled, see photos. There is some fraying on the corners of the cover, the binding and pages are intact. It is not often a text book is really interesting...this one is partially because many of the topics discussed were at the time of publication, very cutting edge. Now these topics are hardly thought of..and taken for granted. For instance, the topic of how a thermometer works and how to make one, how a lens of ice can start a fire, how best to layer coal within a furnace for the most efficient burn, how hot water can be supplied to a kitchen or bath, and a discussion of the very "new concept" of Pasteurization for safeguarding foods. The pages are illustrated with photos and diagrams that help the reader to understand the principals discussed. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
