Vintage Brand New Early 1900s Stetson Black Bowler 7+++ 7-1/8 & Hat Box?

Description: Excellent Vintage NEW Stetson PREMIER Bowler! This is an early 1900s (between 1920-1930s) manufactured Perfect Stetson Bowler hat! This a burnt Orange under-tags and the serial number stamped on the leather sweatband all verify the dating! This was their best, highest quality Bowler manufactured! They also manufacture mostly “Standard Quality”, those are still great Bowlers and less expensive too. This appears to have been bought yesterday at John Wannamaker’s hat store and never worn! See pictures, this is pristine! It’s perfect! Leather sweatband is completely attached and still soft and pliable! Perfectly shaped and NOT a THING wrong with it! No signs of it ever being worn! All the bound brim edge is perfect also! There are NO loose thread and it’s clean! The grosgrain ribbon is securely attached all the way around. We did take a closeup of the bow too. There is NOTHING to hide!If you look at the pictures you can still see the thin custom (now browning) tissue paper hat cover. Yes this hat cover was sold with all their new hats back then. Yes it’s very delicate but it remained with this hat! It’s not perfect being this old there is wear to it and a few small tears. Also pictured are the burnt orange under-tags and another paper tag that states the price at $7.50 and what we beige is the Stetson re-stock number 7521? Also pictured is the serial number stamped onto the leather sweatband! Dad says this verifies a hat manufactured pre-1939. If anyone has something that’s different please write to us.There WAS a keyhole size tag sitting on the bottom of the hat box, with the square tag still attached. Somewhere between dad’s workbench (where dad cleans and prepares all his hats) it has been misplaced. The workroom has so many hats and hat accessories and dead stock hat items inside of it and we did do a search and hunt for the tag but we still have NOT found it. Since it was detached from the hat and it is small we are having a hard time finding it. But if we do we will add it to the hat when shipped. The tag states “7” and if I recall correctly the bottom of the tag had a “$7.50” price stamped on it? It was not visible unless you would turn down the leather sweatband to see it. At least I believe that’s what it had?We know the tag states size 7 but back in that time period there was NO hat sizing standardization. Read below for size details and see picture. A fraction under a perfect 7-1/8. Back then bowlers were made to wear towards the top of the head, not in the middle of the forehead. We know that many folks like wearing hats at center of the forehead so this will fit to wear towards the center forehead at that size. Read below for Moore details. If you do wear it properly this will be a perfect 7-1/8, wearing it where it’s supposed to fall, towards the upper part of the forehead. We hope we are describing this well? Write is you need a better explaining this. We will do our best. It’s hard to believe this was never worn? So maybe it was worn once, maybe twice and put away. It’s just that are NO visible signs of it being worn! Most all of these true vintage hats shows signs of the reed ( the part of the leather sweatband with a copper wire going around it) has NO wear and shows not signs of deterioration! Normally a hat this old will have some signs around the sewn joint of the copper wire having oxidized but this has NONE! Dad believes that all of these old original Stetson Bowlers and their Homburgs were all made in England in this time period. They were EXPERTS aim manufacturing these type of hats! This hat is pristine, see pictures. It is solid black. You just don’t find hats like this anymore! These were made by artists! So you can see that in the first couple of pictures the cleaning pad that we by mistake took out from one other hats dad had. But inside the hat box there was the Original John Wannamaker cleaning pad. It’s new also? We added that to other pictures further down. You can see the name on both the hat and cleaning pad both say,” John Wannamaker”. The other hat cleaning pad has been removed and this one is now included! This is an extremely well bowler hat, extremely clean and the felt is extremely soft and thick. This hat itself is stiff just as you’d image a Bowler would be. The shape will remain as it is just don't sit on it. No moth bite or chews! Firm and solid shape and form. Please write if you have any questions. If you closely look at the pictures you will see a bit of lint. The color is JET BLACK! Some pictures are coming out to light but this is all one and the same color! The picture of the whole underside best represents the Jet Black color! This classic Bowler is just the hat that folks look at and see prestige and status. The bowler came about when equestrian riders with their top hats falling off all the time and at that time hat were considered a must. These hats are also used in the dog shows and other fancy outings. Please see all of dad’s classic hats listed, most dating back to the 1920s though mostly the 1950s. There are Stetsons, Borsalino's, Knox, Resistol and many more.It was stored in Black Stetson hat box. But dad is keeping that hat box for one of his Top Hats. The other Stetson hat box he was replacing it with is from the 1950s but as soon as one of dad’s hat collector buyers saw it he wanted to buy it, that box has been sold! It sold for $75 plus shipping. It was perfect! If you look at the last few pictures we did find a period correct hat box. This is a heavy, thick hard hat box! With the original hat holding insert set along with leather straps. The straps are old but it still fully functional and attached to the box. They are worn and delicate though. When you see those last pictures of this hat box you’ll see exactly how fancy it is! The fancy print is not something you’ll see on hat boxes, even from that period. We have not been able to identify the logo on the front but the box top does state, “ FROM Webber and Heilbroner”. It has only minor paper wear and it’s original hat holding insert set. NOTE: if you decide on NO hat box, we will ship the hat with the hat holding insert set and tissue paper cover as seen in picture number 16. The picture of the Stetson box with the hold holding insert and the tissue paper cover! Shipping with NO hat box will cost $19.20, and you MUST write to us please. Or we can refund the difference after the purchase. Again it will include hat holding insert set and the tissue paper cover! The tissue paper is old and yellowed-brownish but is included with the hat and will be included in the box. Don’t worry it will be very well packed. If you don’t want the box please write to us and the shipping will only be $35 more and you MUST write to us if you want it! The reason for the $35 and not $70 is because dad would like the hat box to go with this hat! It is perfect to store and display and keep this hat in perfect condition for another 100 years! NOTE: shipping outside the continental USA is with the hat box. It a bit more expensive to ship. If you DO NOT want the box please write us BEFORE the purchase so can adjust the shipping box size. Shipping will be much less without the hat We measure each hat 3 time, using 2 different methods to verify the size of each hat we list. This has a size tag, size “7” but measures to a fraction under a PERFECT a size 7-1/8. This will fit that size below the top of the forehead but further down. If you read above and do not completely understand please write to us.An exact size 7 at 22 inches and an exact size 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches. This measure to just under an 1/8 of an inch smaller than a perfect 7-1/8 at approx. 22-2/8, 22-1/4 inches. It’s actually about 1/16+ inch under a perfect 7-18. These fractional measurements are extremely hard to determine but we hope you get the idea? We use the standard Tilley Hat Size chart to cross match the size. This chart is still in use today buy all the hat manufacturers. This is a size 7+++ or 22-1/4+ inches or 56.8Length 12-1/4 inchesWidth 10 inchesHeight 4.75 inchesBrim 2.1 inches in the front brimCrown grosgrain ribbon 1 inch with standard bowThe finely trimmed bound brim edge If you have any question please write. Take a look at dads other great vintage hat he has listed, we try and list couple each week. If you have any additional information or corrections, please write us.This is just a really OUTSTANDING BOWLER hat!We Carefully packaged and ships though Fedex.Local pickup is always free. Ship with Fedex or USPS priority mail, whichever arrives quickest. Both costs a couple dollars more but they are very reliable and they do not crush or damage boxes, also much faster shipping. If you have a shipping account we are happy to work with you to get this shipped under your account number and then of course the shipping will be charged to you and ours would be free. We do not make an profit on shipping! Please see our 100% Ratings and very excellent feedback.Dad has collected hats for a lifetime and there are 100s of them, on shelves, stacked in closets and spare bedrooms. We are slowly listing these special hats weekly. We stand behind the eBay garentee and have NEVER had and issue with returns. We ask you to verify your hat size before you buy and we supply the maximum amount of pictures but if you need anything please write and ask. No Smoking - No PetsThank YouNOTE: when we ship Dad’s hats out we use strong shipping boxes and each hat we ship is FULLY INSURED and we are no longer going to handle broken box insurance claims. We discovered that one buyer crushed their shipping box and asked for a hefty partial refund. The shipper sent us a picture of the box sitting at the front door and it was NOT CRUSHED? We also discovered that because we were NOT in possession of the box it was impossible for us to file the claim. So now and in the future all claims will be handled by the buyer of the hat or item we ship. Again we ALWAYS carefully pack each hat so it will not be crushed in a good strong shipping box. There are always some Bad Apples around who make everyone’s life impossible! It not fair to the rest of the GOOD FOLKS but it’s a fact of life these days! If you have any questions please write to us. Thank you for your understanding.
