Description: The Château de la Gardine bottle has become iconic. Since 1964, all wines have been bottled in a flask-shaped bottle. This design is inspired by a very old mouth-blown flask, one of the first to have been used in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to bottle wines in history. The etching on the bottle still marks many of La Gardine’s bottles today. This is a wonderful slender Vintage amber bottle gracefully rising to 9 ½” high and 2 ½” in diameter with the original label on the front “CHATEAU DE LA GARDINE” in big red letters, and dated 1969. In addition, it is embossed on the shoulder with the Papal Crest surrounded by more French words and more words are embossed around the base. The neck label is still intact. It has a cool pinch on one side replicating the early style. There is a scratch on the back but no other damage and shiny clean. A very interesting vintage wine bottle.
