Description: Offering a RARE vintage 1950's TURNER S98 Dynamic Microphone. This is clearly one of the most uniquely-styled microphones of the era, a silky satin-chromed aluminum casing marketed for general public address, nightclubs, and broadcast. Turner also advertised it for use in churches, (a market the company was familiar with because it was known for its embalming machines.) The nickname of the microphone, 'Tombstone' undoubtedly finds its origin here, although the shape also somewhat resembles a cross. This model was later succeeded by the Turner 500, with a more usual design, and widely used by both Rock groups and the Catholic Church. There was even a special version with a cross logo on the grill.This S98 model ("S" standing for "switch") is in minty condition, showing no scratches or dents in the casing. (You'd by hard pressed to find a nicer one!) Testing reveals a clean, full fidelity audio profile with strong output. (Check out the voice sample on the listing video.) This mic has a unique feature, a hinge in the casing allowing the mic to tilt backward to help capture the audio source more effectively.
