Description: Antique 1936 Porcelain Inkwell Herend, Hungary, Hand Painted Blue Flowers For your consideration is a very beautiful early 20th Century Herend porcelain inkwellIt stands on ribbed circular base with wavy rim, the bowl is molded with swirls, weaved basket patterns on the rim, the lid is topped with twisted finialExquisitely painted blue flowers in sprays and garlandsGolden highlightsIt is complete with its original ink insertClearly marked at the bottom with a blue wreath stamp - the Herend 100th Anniversary 1939 Mark.The manufactory in Herend was established by Vince Stingl in 1826. At first it produced stoneware. In 1839 this situated near lake Balaton factory was bought by Mór Fischer. This year they started manufacturing porcelain. Herend won a golden medal at the first World Exhibition in London in 1851.It is still in business and is the world’s largest porcelain factory. Early Herend porcelain patterns are similar to Meissen and Sevres designs. Measurements: Approx. 6.5" diameter x 4.5" tall Weighs about 1 lb. 1 oz. Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos.
