Description: This listing is for both a lapel pin & tie bar of the US Navy nuclear submarine USS Thresher SSN 593. At the time of her construction at the Portland Naval Shipyard, the USS THRESHER was the navy's state of the art fastest, deepest diving, most lethal submarine. Unfortunately she was lost with all 129 hands while testing off the east coast of the United States in 1963. A special memorial service was held in 1990 for the lost crewmembers. These items were designed, produced and distributed at this service in memory of the crewmembers. The enamel design measures 2 inches in across. These designs would make a great holiday gift for any naval history buff you may know. Any navy or subvet would be proud to wear these designs.
