Description: We have the true and rare Stone Gate palm from a small, isolated area of limestone cliffs and valleys overlooking the Nu Jiang river in China near the Tibet border. They mature at 15-20 feet and have a trunk up to10 inches in diameter. They have large rounded fan leaves, up to 60 leaflets, and a white waxy underside which aides in maintaining moisture. They grow well in freely drained soils containing organic matter like peat or composted leaf liter. Tests have shown large numbers of one gallon seedlings to survive 14F undamaged in the high tunnels. Seedlings will take full sun at an early age and even daytime highs of over 100F for several weeks with adequate soil moisture. Seedlings are growing in 24 ounce pots and are similar in size to the palm in the first photo. Leaves are already showing some white to the undersides--what the palm is well known for! The second photo are mature trees in habitat. We try to ship on Mondays and Tuesdays following payment. No international orders please. Thanks for looking!
