He graduated from Kyoto Art College in 1923. After, Tokyo Earthquake in the same year, he met many Tokyo Artists who moved to Kyoto following the earthquake. Woodblock prints he produced split into two distinctive style, so called “artisan” prints and “creative” prints, where artisan style was used for works for Kyoto publishers and creative style used for his own enjoyment. After World War II, he established Matsukyu Publishing Company and used it to produce and distribute his own works. It fulfilled the same role for few of other Japanese artists through subdivision of the company, KoroKusha. Buyer pays shipping.
