Description: This is a Tom Taber Blue-Winged Teal Drake Decorative Decoy. It has his branded name on the bottom but no other information. The photos give a good description but notice the dents, worm holes, and other slight imperfections as they were in the block it was carved from. Wood imperfections are typical in Taber Decoys. Also typical is its finis with a combination of paints and stains. This guy is a bit larger than life-size measuring 13.5 inches from beak to tail. Not being dated is unfortunate as it makes it hard to determine its age. Most of his decoys show some robust carving but this guy does not have that. It is in wonderful condition but we do not know its age. Mr. Taber passed away in 2004 so at least it was made prior to his death. Being a Blue-Winged Teal does make it rare and difficult to find.
