Description: Offered here a four vintage 1930s issues of THE WIDE WORLD The Magazine for Men. Published by George Newnes. Offered here are the following issues: Nov 1935, Aug 1937, Nov 1937 and Dec 1937. Newnes made his mark with the introduction of The Strand Magazine in 1891, known famously for its publication of the Sherlock Holmes stories. He made numerous other forays into magazine publication, and The Wide World is one of the more successful, having rivalled The Strand in longevity. The magazine was known for its lurid tales and especially garish cover art of which the four issues offered are prime examples. Exceptionally nice condition.
