Original first issue jacket, with a list of advertised titles on the rear panel beginning with "Decode" rather than the later issues, which instead leads with "The Wild Psalms."-Condition and Description: Publisher's original black cloth, lettered in gilt, red decorative lines on the spine and front board, frontispiece replicating the jacket design, octavo (8.25" x 5.5"), 421 pp. The book is very good. Minimal wear to the boards. A previous owner's name in thick pencil on the front flyleaf; else free and clear of writing and underlining. The pages are lightly tanned, but clean, with only a very minor occasional imperfection. Small bookseller's stamp on the rear pastedown. The jacket is poor, with general rubbing, age darkening, soiling, and loss at the edges. The jacket has been archivally and reversibly reinforced on the underside with Japanese tissue at all four joints and some closed tears (refer to the last three pictures). The spine of the jacket is notably darkened. The jacket has been placed in a clear and removable mylar cover.
