This weekly series ran on Mutual until February 14, 1945, with Michael Rye serving as the announcer and supporting cast members Vicki Vola and Bryna Raeburn. In 1946, a regional Mutual-Don Lee network aired a three times weekly series with Jack Mather as the titular character. Mather continued to lead the cast in the syndicated radio series, which ran for more than 600 episodes from 1947 to 1956. Pancho was initially portrayed in this rendition by Harry E. Lang. Mel Blanc filled the void left by Lang's passing in 1953 and continued the series. Aimed at children, the radio series portrayed the Cisco Kid as a good-hearted nomad and a spoof of Robin Hood who was sometimes mistakenly thought to be on the wrong side of the law owing to his propensity to clash with "the rich and selfish" who were harming the poor. Each episode ended with one of them cracking a silly joke about the quest they had just finished. They would laugh and exclaim, "Oh, Pancho!" and "Oh, Cisco!" before riding away.
