Description: This book is an adaptation of the 1962 United Artist screenplay, which was loosely based on the 1835 Russian book by Nikolay Gogol Set sometime between the mid-sixteenth and early-seventeenth century, Gogol's epic tale recounts both a bloody Cossack revolt against the Poles (led by the bold and aging Taras Bulba of Ukrainian folk mythology) and the trials of Taras Bulba's two sons. The younger son, Andrey, falls in love with a Polish noblewoman and, after joining the garrison of a Polish town besieged by the Cossacks, is caught and shot by his father. Made into a movie starring Tony Curtis and Yul Brynner released in 1962.
