Description: Offered is an original World War One production United States Military issue bayonet, together with its original scabbard, manufactured for use with the U.S. M-1917 Enfield rifle, as well as for the combat shotguns (trench guns) used both in World War One and World War Two. This bayonet is the Model of 1917 bayonet and is W marked for manufacture by Winchester Repeating Arms. It is 1917 dated. The other side of the ricasso is US marked, as well as proofed with both an eagle head and a flaming bomb. Both of those proofs appear as is correct for Winchester manufactured Model 1917 bayonets. This bayonet is offered as pictured with its factory blade and tip, having never been sharpened after leaving the factory. The grips are original and unmolested, and are free from cracks, chips, or repairs. The lock/release button functions as it should. This bayonet is offered together with its original scabbard, which also presents in superb condition. The scabbard was manufactured by G&K and is so marked. The scabbard is undated, as is correct for G&K. It also bears the inspector’s initials. A rare original rig that would be very tough to upgrade. Signature will be required for delivery.
