From city lots to large properties up to 100 acres, Setup is easy: simply bury a wire at the perimeter of the yard. The system works by producing a radio signal from the Fence Transmitter through up to 8,600 feet of Boundary Wire. The Boundary Wire is buried or attached to a fixed object to enclose the dog's Boundary Area. You temporarily define the Boundary Area with Boundary Flags for a visual aid in training your dog. Your dog wears a Collar Receiver with Contact Points that touch his neck and, once trained, is allowed to roam freely in the Boundary Area. When your dog reaches the Warning Zone, the Collar Receiver gives a warning beep. If your dog continues into the Stimulation Zone, a safe stimulation will be delivered through the Contact Points to get his attention until he returns to the Boundary Area. 4 SIMPLE STEPS Installing an in-ground fence is an easy weekend project. You’ll be burying wire at a very shallow depth, possibly splicing wire, and patching the surface along the perimeter. YARD LAYOUTS To install your fence, it's helpful to plan your layout before burying the wires in your yard. Here are some tips and sample layouts to help you visualize how the SportDOG In-Ground Fence can work for your yard and your dog. Basic Installation The in-ground fence keeps your dog safe with a transmitter, collar, and buried wires. The transmitter sends the signal to your dog's collar, and the wire sets the boundary for your dog. The wire must make a continuous loop that starts at the transmitter, goes around your yard, and ends at the transmitter. Single Loop Layout The Single Loop or Perimeter Loop is the most common layout. You'll use one continuous wire to cover your entire yard. You can also use the Single Loop Layout to keep your dog out of gardens, pools, or landscaping. Double Loop Layout The Double Loop Layout lets you create a boundary for part of your property. This is a great way to give your dog access to the backyard or front yard only. Keep in mind that with the double loop, the wires must be placed 3-5 feet apart. Double Loop with Fence or Dock You can also use the In-Ground Fence in a yard that is already partially fenced. For a waterfront property, the Double Loop layout can give your dog access to the yard and dock.
