Description: Spanish-American War Era US Army Collins No. 1005 Machete w/Leather Scabbard - 1st Pattern Green Horn Handle - Very Nice Condition Up for sale is a Spanish American War US Army Collins No. 1005 Machete w/Leather Scabbard. This is the 1st Pattern Machete with the Green Horn Handle. The early handles were used during the Spanish-American War. The blade still has the original finish. The finish is worn. It is faintly marked: Collins No. 1005 on the blade, see photo. The blade shows minor evidence of sharpening. No nicks or chips in the blade. The Green Horn Handle are in very nice condition. A minor hairline crack on one panel with small chips on the other side, please see photos. The leather scabbard has the Collins Logo on the front. It has the metal tip and throat. The belt loop has been removed from the rear. The lower edge of the scabbard is split open. Look like the edge of the machete cut through the leather with usage over time, see photos. The still supple, but has some cracks in the body and along the edges. The machete is used, please see photo's for condition. Please see photos.
