Description: Soviet Russian USSR medal Order of the Red Star, scarce “screwpost-base” variation, with serial number in the low-100 thousand range range, awarded in early 1943 to Captain Sergei Sidorovich Pashuk, a combat-experienced political officer in Red Army tank units. He earned this particular Red Star for battles in January 1943 as part of the 192nd Tank Brigade, which was armed with American M3 “Lee” lend-lease medium tanks! The award citation reads as follows:“In battles for …[villages] … he displayed courage and bravery. Situated on a tank of the line, by his personal example, he inspired the men of the company to crush the enemy. The company destroyed: 400 fascists killed and 750 enemy soldiers and officers captured. 250 vehicles with military supplies, 45 guns, 75 machine guns, and 800 rifles, and 7 depots with ammunition were captured…”Pashuk was originally recommended for the Order of the Red Banner. He was previously awarded the Bravery Medal in 1941 for actions in a T-60 tank. Later, he commanded a battery of Su-76 self-propelled guns and earned the Orders of the Patriotic War 1st and 2nd Class and the Order of Alexander Nevsky for fighting in Germany. His battery destroyed hundreds of enemy troops and dozens of tanks, self-propelled guns, APCs, towed artillery pieces, anti-aircraft guns, and light vehicles, as well as numerous bunkers and firing positions. They also captured dozens of the same (one citation mentions “15 tanks … up to 1000 enemy soldiers”). Pashuk served in the Red Army until 1956. He additionally earned the a Red Star and Combat Service Medal for length of service, and he received medals for the Liberation of Warsaw and Capture of Berlin. Condition is great, as seen in the images! Minor wear, but the enamel is free of chips, which is a rarity on early Red Stars worn in intense combat. The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously! If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Over time, I have found that redacting award serial numbers in certain listings (particularly of researched awards) has acted a simple and effective filter to sort good customers from troublesome eBay hooligans. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order. Winner will be provided with archival research (41 pages - including Award Record Card) in electronic format, unredacted, in color, plus archival portraits of Pashuk, also in electronic format. One of the portraits shows him wearing this Red Star! Professional English translation of the Record Card is available if requested before receipt of item. No returns. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AVAILABLE only through eBay’s Global Shipping Program (GSP). With this program: once the item is delivered to the address to which eBay directs me to ship, all responsibility for final safe delivery of the item to the buyer becomes eBay’s.
