Soviet Russian USSR Medal Order of the Red Star NKVD OFFICER 1945 RESEARCHED

Description: Soviet Russian Order of the Red Star WITH RESEARCH awarded to a CAPTAIN of the NKVD in 1945! The recipient served in Ukraine and was decorated alongside officers who fought against the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The Red Star is for long service, but it is highly probable that the recipient also fought against the UPA. The research provided is a redacted excerpt of an archival document (apparently from a “closed” archive) that provides the following information: 1) a list of award recipients, the names and serial numbers of the awards presented to each, and the serial numbers of the accompanying order/medal booklets2) the date of awarding3) the awarding authority – both the body that authorized the award and the government official empowered to physically present the awards To reiterate – the archival document is excerpted (i.e. snippets of pages from a multi-page archival file) and redacted (award serial numbers for other recipients have been blurred out). That is what I received with the Red Star, and that is what I am passing on. The recipient’s name can be found on a Russian website devoted to researching NKVD service members. The information available there indicates that he was made a Sergeant of State Security in 1938. He was a Captain at the time of awarding in 1945. The archival document will be provided to the winner only. Professional english translation available upon request. Also available upon request is some contextual research about a couple of the other NKVD award recipients who are listed on the document. These include: – two officers previously awarded for fighting the UPA– an officer previously awarded for "special missions" in 1943– an officer previously awarded for NKVD/Party work during the Battle of Stalingrad– an officer whose son became a war correspondent and died during the Afghanistan War– a woman who earned an Order of the Red Banner for 20 years of service in the NKVD. Condition is excellent, as seen in the image! Original screw disc included. The Red Star is a Type 6 Variation 4.3 according to one common system of classification.
