Description: Soviet Russian USSR Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 2-2.2 million range, MZPP variation, awarded in 1945 to Red Army Soldier Mikhail Kubrak, driver for the staff of the 283rd Rifle Division, for saving staff officers and documents from a German ambush in East Prussia!Due to false information provided by a neighboring unit, the divisional staff’s Operational Group, which Kubrak was driving, fell into a German ambush en route to a new command post. Under intense enemy fire from 200-300 meters, Kubrak maneuvered the vehicle out of danger and thus saved the lives of the division staff’s officers, as well as important documents. He was recommended for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class, but ultimately received the Order of the Red Star. The rare rebuke of the neighboring unit is an interesting bit of color in the write-up. Kubrak had served in the Red Army since the beginning of WWII and was wounded three times, the first two being a light wound in August 1941 and a severe wound in December of 1941. Condition is as seen in the images! Great except for the top ray. The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously!
