Since the late 1880's the Mail Pouch tobacco company has been painting their message on the sides of barns. Barn crews traveled the country painting the billboards. In 1957 the Highway Beautificaton Act was passed and the Mail Pouch barn painters were laid off because many barns painted were along major highways.
