SCARCE WORLD'S COLUMBIAN TICKET FOR MOVING SIDEWALK ON LAKE MICHIGAN PIER

Description: A tough ticket to find. I would call it "scarce" not rare; but tickets for this concession simply don't come along often. I have purchased perhaps as many as 15-20--but that translates to maybe one every couple of years since I began with serious research, collecting, writing and selling Columbian tickets. The Moving Sidewalk tickets were issued in red, green and blue. On occasion someone has reported a much lighter/different color that has sturned out to be just a faded version of one of these three colors. This is a very low serial number as well, just 4 digits. Since I do not know what orderf the three different colored tickets were used, it's tough to be certain just how rare #9075 might be. Assuming the green tickets were used at the beginning of the fair and the colors were used one after the other rather than intermingled so on any give day a customer might receive a blue, red or green ticket. If in fact this ticket went to the 9075th rider, it would have been handed out in the first few days of the fair. I know that collectors differ pretty dramatically on ticket numbers. Some like the additional facts and/or rarity they can represent. Others couldn't care if they had number 100 or 100000. My major project for 2025 will be the completion of my Columbian ticket book that will be much different than a catalog and I'm quite sure will surprise many collectors with the number of tickets we have identified and included since my WCE adventure began in 1979. The book wil be printed completely in color and we have a lot of work yet to do and decisions to make. For example, would a hardcover serve collectors better or perhaps people would be fine with a softcover as a working book/reference but might be interested in a limited edition as well. I'm very interested in input from anyone with even just a small collection of WCE tickets....or passes....or related items. Everyone's opinions are very valuable to me. If you happen to know of what you consider a rare ticket I might no be aware of, I'd love to hear from you. In fact, I would be anxious to hear about most any anecdotal information about WCE tickets and passes. The book will include not only information on EVERY known ticket but also lists and articles and interesting or previously unknown related stories. I will also include references to large ticket collections I have sold. Two of the finest WCE overall and ticket collections coming to market in just the last few years include the John Kennel Columbian Collection which I was retained by the late collector's family to handle. It took roughly three years to sell the collection; it was very gratifying NOT to have anyone hurrying to get it sold. Whenever money NOW becomes an overriding factor in selling collections the result is usually--in fact very often--lower revenue. John was a longtime collector, extremely well organized and a pelasure to work with over many years prior to his passing away. John and his wife Heike were always quick to share their knowledge. I was obviously pleased and honored when Heike asked me to sell the collection, knowing it would be far more than "just a sale." My forthcoming book will discuss John's and other collections that should be noted when discussing WCE tickets.
