Description: SCARCE ORIGINAL WW2 U.S. ARMY 43rd INFANTRY DIVISION PAINTED AND AIRBORNE RIGGER MODIFIED M1 HELMET AIRBORNE LINER. THIS LINER FEATURES A FRONT DEVICE HOLE AND IS OD PAINTED TO ITS EXTERIOR. THE FRONT OF THE HELMET FEATURES A PAINTED U.S. ARMY 43rd INFANTRY DIVISION INSIGNIA WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE A LIGHT OD PAINT OVERWASH. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HELMET FEATURES THE REMAINS OF AN UNKNOWN INSIGNIA. THE INTERIOR OF THE HELMET FEATURES A "W" WESTINGHOUSE STAMP AND EARLY WAR KHAKI WEBBING STRAPS, MISSING SWEATBAND AND NAPE STRAP. THE SIDES OF THE INTERIOR LINER FEATURES RIGGER ADDED A-FRAMES, MISSING CHINSTRAP AS THAT APPEARS THE CHINSTRAP WAS CUT FROM THE A-FRAME AT SOME POINT IN TIME. LINER IS IN GOOD USED CONDITION, SHOWING OVERALL AVERAGE USE, AGE AND WEAR HAVING NO HOLES AND NO CRACKS. WHAT I THINK HERE IS THAT THIS LINER STARTED ITS LIFE AS AN OLIVE DRAB AND 43rd PAINTED M1 HELMET LINER AND LATER IN THE WAR WAS RECLAMED BY THE AIRBORNE AS WW2 AIRBORNE LINERS WERE AT A SHORTAGE AND WAS MODIFIED BY AN AIRBORNE RIGGER AS AN AIRBORNE LINER AS BECAME COMMON DURING THE WAR.
