Description: A beautifully patterned roll cloth l from Germany around 1900 to 1920, made from glossy half-linen, impresses with its extraordinary size of 89 cm in width and 297 cm in length. Weighing approximately 700 grams, this linen towel features a gorgeous design: beige with a cream-white woven illustration. The motif depicts a housewife washing her laundry in a tub in the garden while children play nearby. A clothesline, attached to two trees, holds freshly washed textiles blowing in the wind. The sun shines brightly on the scene. Above the trees, the word "Rolltuch" is displayed. Additionally, a monogram "MB" is embroidered. The sides of the roll towel are adorned with lovely woven ornaments, and the edge is decorated with a blue woven garland border. Despite its age, the roll towel is in excellent condition. There are a few stains on the linen fabric, which will disappear after washing. Traditionally, roll clothes were used for smoothing household laundry by wrapping the laundry around rolling pins and rolling it in a mangle. To protect the laundry, the textiles were wrapped in the roll towel. Today, this piece is perfect as a tablecloth, table runner, wall runner, wall hanging, or curtain.
