Description: This is a hand-carved and painted Red Cedar paddle that measures 60" long by 6" wide. The great thing about paddles is that they can be displayed vertically or horizontally. Paddles symbolize life's journey and travel within West Coast Native American culture. This paddle displays a grey and white Owl design. The owl spirit is emblematic of a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge. If you have the owl as totem or power animal, you’re likely to have the ability to see what’s usually hidden to most. When the spirit of this animal guides you, you can see the true reality, beyond illusion and deceit. The owl also offers for those who have it a personal totem the inspiration and guidance necessary to deeply explore the unknown and the magic of life. There are more than a dozen common owl species in British Columbia, including the Barred Owl and Spotted Owl. Currently, Ross resides in Fort Rupert, BC and as a teenager was influenced by his brother Jonathan Henderson. He works with Kwakwaka’wakw artist Trevor Hunt and has been seriously carving since 2002. He works in a traditional Kwakwaka'wakw style and enjoys carving masks, Hamat'sa masks and paddles.
