Description: We reimagined this circa 1930s workbench into an oversized bar cart (which is also a perfect kitchen island). The industrial butcher-block style construction for the top has been refinished just to the point where the character is preserved, yet the finish and feel is as smooth as silk. We kept many of the wears of time where they suited the overall image, which is not only evident in the top, but also in the high gloss epoxy finish to the inside shelf, which had nearly one-hundred years (and maybe as many coats) of paint colors gently removed. Given it was used, and used well, grooves in the shelf maintain some of the dominant colors this had been painted. We used a 1:1 bar top epoxy to allow for protection and preservation so the utility of this piece is not lost. This bar cart comes complete with a six-bottle wine rack, and a wine glass rack which can accommodate eight, large globe glasses. The wine bottle rack was made specifically for this piece and is constructed from 200 year old structural pine, doweled, glued, and then coated with the same bar top epoxy as the shelf. Now, back to that gorgeous top. This bench was used, it was cut, drilled, painted, abused as work benches are supposed to be. We doweled drill marks, and used epoxy to fill deep saw lines. But two of the most prominent features are cut outs that were cut, probably to house electrical outlets. When we found the bench they were filled with wood putty. As we removed the putty we found one of them had a 15-amp fuse stuffed in it to fill space. We decided to fill both with the bar top epoxy, one housing that amp to preserve the thrift of that craftsman decades ago, and the other to float a 1oz silver 2021 coin to mark the year we brought the bar cart to life. When we envisioned this cart we realized it wouldn't be complete without a cooler. Whether you fill it with white wine, Prosecco, or a bunch of local IPAs, this large, double-walled stainless steel cooler will provide for a complete entertaining experience. Now, down to the wheels. As you will notice throughout the entire piece, no detail was too small; and these casters are amazing. A mixture of stainless steel and White Ash keep with the overall aesthetic, while not diminishing function. This bench has served family craftsmen for generations already, and now it will serve in another capacity for generations to come.
