Description: RCA VICTOR VICTROLA 45-HY-4 45 RPM Tube Record Player - Works Great beautiful 45 RPM Hi-Fi record player introduced in 1954 by RCA. This would be the second in a series of tabletop Hi-Fi players with the first model (45-EY-4) having been introduced in 1951. Like the first model, this features a 4-tube push-pull Hi-Fi amplifier & RP-190 changer feeding an 8" round speaker. The 45-EY-4 featured the larger tubes & this model featured the smaller miniature tubes. Both models featured quick disconnect assemblies making the repairs of these models much more convenient & also featured a red pilot light that showed through the top letting you know the player was on. That pilot light would be plugged on later models as a cost saving measure. Both used the same case but the face on the 45-HY-4 was changed to simulate a TV screen. These were the best sounding tabletop players RCA produced up to this time until the introduction of the Orthophonic Hi-Fi tabletop players with 2 speakers & crossover network in both wood & leather finishes.
