Description: An interesting political campaign piece, this T68 1864 $10 Confederate Treasury Note played host to a flyer issued by "Captain" C(harles) F. Johnston who had commanded Company H. of the First Regiment Virginia Artillery as an independent command. Johnston was wounded at Cold Harbor in 1864. The unit surrendered on April 9, 1865 with three officers and 45 men. Johnston lost this 1888 primary election by 182 votes (183 to 365 votes) to the incumbent.
