Description: Pre-Civil War Model 1833 N.P. Ames Cutler Dragoon Saber with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "N.P. Ames Cutler Springfield 1837" over "T.W.". The brass knuckle guard has "H.K.C." and "O.R.D." on it, the quillon has "W.S.". The guard is very slightly deformed. The grip and guard are tight. The grip has 20% of the leather wrap and the wire wrap is gone. The pipe backed blade has "United States" on it, it is straight, no nicks, very light sharpening marks, the tip is sharp, and there are small age spots scattered throughout. The leather washer is intact. The steel scabbard is solid, has several dents (scabbard goes on/off smoothly), the hanger rings are missing, the drag has what looks like "H.K.C." over "O.R.D." on one side, and the reverse has "W.S.". Length of the blade is 34 1/4" (1 1/8" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 39 1/2", and overall in the scabbard it is 41".Check out my other War Items! Including Several Swords and Many Bayonets!!
