Paul Fleming (1889โ1976) was an influential American magician, author, and publisher who left a lasting impact on magic literature and performance. Born Paul Fleming Gemmill in York County, Pennsylvania, he initially performed as "Paul Germain," touring with established magicians Eugene Laurant and Karl Germain. Alongside his career as a professor of economics at the University of Pennsylvania, Fleming co-founded the Fleming Book Company with his brother Walker. Through this venture, he published the renowned Fleming Magic Classic Series, preserving seminal works on magic. He also authored a respected three-volume set of critical book reviews on magic literature, which remains highly valued by magicians and historians. With his dedication to elevating magic as both a performer and scholar, Fleming played a key role in documenting and enriching the study of magical arts.
