Description: Original Imperial German Picklehaube circa 1910. This version is a private purchase model for an officer from Prussia. (Private purchase means the officer had the picklehaub made specfically for him vice an issued version) The name of the owner ((Schlick)) is enscribed on the inside on the leather shell. Also interesting is that there is a folded newspaper under the leather headband for added padding. (see photo) All parts are original, and the leather does have some wear marks, crazing, with a crack in the finish on the left side,- just above the cockarde. The leather is intact, and the entire shell is Otherwise in mint condition. Please see photos for detail. Black lacquered leather bell with round front screen, golden fittings as well as fine brown leather lining with silk ribs and green or red lined umbrellas. Handwritten carrier name, size approx. 57. Gold-plated line eagle with openwork crown and polished details. Flat golden scale chains on plug-in rosettes, cockards in officer version. This is a great piece of german military history thats over 100 years old, and is also name traceable. This was obtained at an auction in Germany last year and is perfect for the collector and would really enhance any office, bookcase or mancave.
