Description: Old Ancient Stone Flaked Hand AX - PALEO Tool / Artifact GEORGIA I removed this PALEO Hand AX in a box of a life long artifact collector. This item along with several other items date back to early man , the simplest tools used to break bones chop meat and dig for foods. This one most likely was used a an AX to chop down small trees. I had the Ax looked at by well known South Eastern authentication document-er CARLOS TATUM who said yes they are thousands of years old and the real deal. The stone is similar to ones found in Northern Florida and southern Georgia. The man who collected these items lived in Florida. This was done at the Artifacts and bottle show in Westley Chapel Florida. weekend of August 10th I have multiple scrapers / knives and points , thus giving others a chance to own such an item at a FANTASTIC price . Check out what others are asking for similar early mans stone tools. I have two other items that were in the Box I purchased , now listed . I kept a few of the others for my personal collection. I have been a member of The Tampa Bay Fossil club for over twenty five years . I set up a display every year of some of my Artifacts I have collected in my life time. My photo is on the clubs brochure ( on display racks local hotels ) Things to do in Tampa Bay . These stone tools are the real thing NOT REPRODUCTIONS The AX is 8 inches long 4 inches wide 1 1/2 inches wide . It is HEAVY one pound three ounces and is Flaked by early man on all sides of the tool , see photos Stone tools are the oldest traces of human activity. The Paleolithic Period is defined as the time from the first use of stone tools around two million years ago, to the end of the Pleistocene Period, around 12,000 years ago. The Neolithic Period follows this and leads up to the eventual human discovery of metal. The last two photos are not part of the auction photos are for verification and reference only.
