Norton Commando 750, 1971-73, STAINLESS STEEL, UNF Cylinder Fitting KIT

Description: This listing is for a Made in England, stainless steel cylinder barrel 'fixing" kit to replace all the steel OEM, barrel nuts and washers on many (but not all) Norton 750 Commandos manufactured from 1971-73. It includes 9 stainless steel washers and 9 stainless steel UNF nuts. Unlike the OEM hardware, these do not show rust. Basically, this kit is UNF, Unified Fine Thread. In 1971 Norton switched to UNF thread, supposedly. On a 750, this meant that most engine fastenings, except for the bottom barrel nuts and studs, remained BSC. The kicker is, the switch did not necessarily happen in 1971. Being British and all, the switch to UNF happened on some 1971 and on some 1972 750 machines. Brilliant! If you own a 1972 Combat this UNF kit IS the right one. If you own a 1973 750 Commando, this kit IS the right one. For any pre 1971 Commando 750, this IS NOT the right kit. If you own a 1971-72 Commando you must first determine if the bottom barrel nuts are BSC or UNF. That is easy, just trot off to your local hardware store and purchase a 3/8" and or 5/16" UNF nut. If it does screw on to the bottom barrel studs, this IS the right kit for your 1971-72 Commando 750.
