The games still need to be clean and in good condition (minimal wear on the pins on the game). My testing has found that games I purchased years ago and stored properly (in plastic clamshell cases) work great and usually can be read on the first try. Games I have purchased from online sellers, sometime load on the first try but also sometimes take a few tries to get it to load. Sometimes you have to use the good old blow in the cartridge trick.
