Product Description: This offering is for one new Rhode Gear Truck Shuttle Bike Mount and related mounting hardware to attach the bike mount to the Rhode Gear Truck Shuttle Bike Kit (the latter of which is not included). We believe the bike kit is a thin/flat steel platform that may be installed in the bed of a pick-up truck (or another flat surface) and then these bike mounts may be easily secured to the steel platform with existing hardware included with this bike mount. We've also read where a functional platform may be made from other materials (i.e., something as simple as a 2x4). More specifically, once a 2x4 has been anchored to a truck bed or equivalent flat surface, then this bike mount may be secured to the 2x4. The only modification to the bike mount is the large yellow knob (which is an extension of a bolt-head for securing the bike mount to the aforementioned bike kit) will need to be replaced with a more traditional lag bolt that will provide additional length to bolt the bike mount to the thicker 2x4. A visual inspection of the bike mount, as well as a review of the retail packaging copy, indicates the unit is made from an aluminium alloy and includes a steel quick release skewer that measures 9.0 mm in diameter (which should be compatible with most bicycle forks). There is also a rubber pad at the base of the unit to help prevent any marring of the platform to which the bike mount is secured. We should also note there is evidently the ability to adjust the bike mount to three different (angled) positions when a unit is installed onto the aforementioned bike kit. Although, this adjustment would not be available if the mounting platform is something other than the bike kit (i.e., the 2x4 platform would not offer multiple angled mounting positions...as one example). As for condition, this bike mount is new and still in it's original retail packaging.
