Unit Powers on, I don’t have any Beta-max tapes in order to test completely. The last time I used it before storing it, it worked perfectly. Be aware the only that may be wrong with this VCR, is that belts do deteriorate with time. The eject button has been glued back on. This unit is very high quality except the design of the control buttons, but the good thing you can use the wired remote to control the VCR control buttons, I am specially talking about the Eject, Rewind, Play, FF, pause, and Record buttons. Includes wired remote control
