Description: From the Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison: Zor & Zorina Wall Plaque Dancers by Betty Harrington. The Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison (CAS) produced decorative figurines, wall plaques, salt and pepper sets, and head vases from 1942 until its closing in 1956. These pieces are wall plaques of Zor and Zorina in a wonderful dancing form with a green theme. They are porcelain/Glaze and hand-painted. During a period when all the most well-known ceramic designers came from California, the Madison Ceramic Arts Studio blossomed in the Midwest soil in Wisconsin, a state known more for its dairy products at the time than for art. The main designer was Betty Harrington, an artist with little formal training, but a very creative vision. The tiny studio developed a reputation for high-quality, nicely detailed ceramic figurines that are desired today for their quaintness and collectibility.
