Description: Litchi Tomato Solanum Sisymbriifolium25 Seeds It's our first year growing Litchi Tomatoes and it's been interesting! Beautiful white flowers attract so many bees and butterflies to the garden! Little green fruits will start to appear after the flowers fade. They grow 4-8 on a stem with the fruits closest to the plant ripening first. Once the fruit is ripe, the casing will turn brown and open up to reveal beautiful red tomatoes. Be careful while picking - the stems and casing are just covered in tiny little spikes. The tomato plants themselves are very resilient! There is not any staking or weaving needed to support these tomatoes. The plants grow into more of a bush structure and does very well in wind. Some of our other tomatoes were totally blown over, but these stayed tall & straight. The Litchi tomato has many spikes all over them. It makes it really deer resistant! Most of our other tomato plants were topped and fruit eaten by the deer. Not the Litchi! There wasn't one leaf missing or one fruit eaten while the others were mauled. This tomato is also very heat resistant and takes little water to keep it going. Since the Litchi tomato originates in South America, the Florida heat this year didn't affect it a bit! We spent many days in a row at 98-100 degrees F with very little rain. While most other tomatoes wilted and died off, we never lost 1 Litchi!
